Mt. Shasta is a majestic, steep-sided stratovolcano located about 97 km (60 mi) north of Redding along the I-5 corridor in Northern California. At 14,179' it is the 2nd highest mountain in the Cascades and the 5th tallest mountain in the state. Mt. Shasta rises 11,000' above the surrounding terrain. In this video the sun is rising on Mt. Shasta over a blanket of fog that completely engulfs the valley and its inhabitants below to whom it was a cold, dreary day beneath the clouds.
